First, let me say that this is a blog and I am not a scientist. What I am writing about is my own experience and is anecdotal. That being said, the reason I know about kratom and have worked so hard to create a source of it that is fairly priced and available to everyone is because my wife suffers with fibromyalgia and I have seen first hand how kratom has helped her. In a world where opiates are constantly prescribed to people with no end dates or off-ramps to alternative treatments, people need to seek out alternative treatments. When it comes to being bedside with a person who is suffering with pain that does not go away, pharmaceuticals seem like the only answer. So when a non pharmaceutical remedy comes along that provides any relief, you jump on it. And if that natural herbal remedy is feels better on your stomach and is getting you through your days that you had no idea how you would manage, then you fight for it. That is where I found myself in the battle with fibromyalgia alongside my wife.

• People with fibromyalgia experience pain all over their bodies, while also suffering from trouble sleeping, fatigue, and emotional issues that can be compounded with stress.
• There have been no studies done on the treatment of fibromyalgia with kratom, however anecdotal reports have been increasing giving new hope to future studies.

Over 100M people in the USA suffer from chronic pain. According to the Institute of Medicine (IOM), severe chronic pain has a cost of around $600 billion a year in medical treatments and lost productivity.

Why is kratom so expensive?

I couldn’t figure out why some kratom was expensive, some wasn’t. Why some worked well for my wife and others didn’t. Like anything else, there are levels of quality and people out there that just want to make money and don’t care about anything else. For us, the most important thing was to find good kratom. Find a reliable quality source. And keep it coming in at prices that were not crazy. The average person who discovers kratom and has a chronic illness has to start thinking of the cost. I know I did. I love my wife and her pain is my pain but when you are pinching every penny, a few extra pennies for something you take daily, can make or break you. All I can think of every time we negotiate a few extra cents off a kilo is that people like my wife are struggling every day to get to work to make the money for the kratom that keeps them going.

Are there differences in the quality of kratom?

• Over 3 million people worldwide are addicted to opiates according to the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates.  Of that 3 million, over two million are from the USA.
• It is estimated that opiate dependency effects nearly 10 percent of medical practitioners, especially susceptible are anesthesiologists.
